KAPRIELIAN MOVING UP THE LADDER

April 17, 2016 - From Baseball America prospect report

From, James Kaprielian, rhp, Yankees. The former UCLA Friday starter ranks as the Yankees’ No. 4 prospect and just missed being ranked in the Top 100—and he has shown why this season. Kaprielian took a no-hitter into the seventh inning Saturday—although he’d already allowed three unearned runs by that point—against high Class A Charlotte. He ended up allowing just one hit over seven innings, walking two and striking out four in a 3-1 loss. Kaprielian committed an error that allowed a runner to reach and then an error by first baseman Mike Ford allowed two runs to score. The loss notwithstanding, Kaprielian has shown the Yankees an advanced pitch package and makeup that allows some evaluators to believe he could help the big league team as soon as 2016.
