FALL TRYOUTS UNDERWAY

Blue Wave Baseball is now recruiting exceptional players from 10 to 18-years-old for all Fall-Winter 2010 teams.

Fall 2010 team tryouts are as follows:

• BLUE WAVE 10U: Is based in Irvine and coached by Jordan Baltierra, who specializes in working with players in their first year of competitive club baseball. The team practices twice weekly, plays CCYB league games and selected tournaments during the season. Tryouts will be held each Monday and Friday in August from 5 to 7 PM at University High School, 4771 Campus Drive, Irvine. This is an ideal for players that are new to travel baseball and want to take the plunge.

• BLUE WAVE 13U: Is based in Irvine and coached by Charlie “Old School” Phillips, a longtime Orange County coach and former USC pitching standout. Phillips also played for the LA Dodgers and Angels in their minor league organizations and has coached youth, high school, college, and professionally for the past 25 years. The team plays CCYB league games in the Fall as well as selected tournaments. Tryouts will be held at 5 PM Wednesday Sept. 1 Wednesday September 8 at University High School, 4771 Campus Drive, Irvine. Tryouts will also be held at 5 PM Friday Sept. 3 at Northwood Community Park, corner or Bryan and Yale in Irvine.

• BLUE WAVE 14U-CONLIN: Is a high school preparatory team based at University High School and coached by Kevin Conlin (UCLA) and his farther, University High School head coach Chris Conlin. This is an ideal team for 8th graders that want to spend the next 12 to 18 months dedicated to preparing for their first year of high school baseball. The team practices twice a week at University High School and plays CCYB league and selected tournaments. Tryouts will be held at 5 PM Wednesday Aug. 25 and 5 PM Friday Aug. 27 at University High School, 4771, Campus Drive, Irvine.

• BLUE WAVE 15U-PHOLE/RODRIGUEZ: Open Tryouts will be held at 6 PM Monday Aug. 23 and Monday Aug. 30 at Beckman High School on the freshman field, 3588 Bryan Avenue, Irvine. The team is coached by Beckman High School coaches Rich Pohle (Seattle Mariners) and Jon Rodriguez and is ideal 9th graders that want to get a jump on their Freshmen year of baseball. The team will play CCYB 15U and 16U teams in the Fall, as well as selected tournaments.

• BLUE WAVE 16U/17U-NICK: Is coached by Tom Nick, former owner of The YARD, and well-known Orange County baseball coach and trainer. This team is based at Estancia High School and plays in selected leagues and tournaments, depending on age group. Nick coaches both a 16U squad and 17U team that plays at the 18U level. Tryouts will be held at 3-5 PM Wednesday Aug. 25 at Estancia High School, 2323 Placentia Avenue, Costa Mesa. Advanced Sophomores and Juniors moving to varsity level.

• BLUE WAVE 18U-SORENSEN: Estancia Head Coach Matt Sorensen is the skipper of our 18U USA Premier League team that also plays in selected showcase tournaments throughout the Fall-Winter seasons. Sorensen is a former Cal State Fullerton standout pitcher and one of the best at grooming players for college recruiters and scouts. Tryouts will be held at 3-5 PM Wednesday Aug. 25 at Estancia High School, 2323 Placentia Avenue, Costa Mesa. Players need to be high school starting varsity players.
