Blue Wave 15U Takes Tournament Title

Blue Wave 15U swept the field over the weekend to win the July 10-11 PreGame Tournament at Long Beach Wilson High School.

Coach Aron Garcia’s team opened the tournament on Saturday (July 10) with a 10-1 win over Long Beach Bruins (Long Beach Wilson’s JV team), then defeated the Destroyers 10-5 off to establish themselves as the No. 1 seed heading into the Sunday playoff round. The team pounded out 11 hits in each of the games Saturday, while committing only one error on the day.

Garcia’s gang got off to a rocky start on Sunday, but managed to defeat the Destroyers 8-4 off 8 hits, while committing three errors in the game. The Destroyers produced 10 hits in the game, but came up short in the runs department as the Wave advanced to the championship game against the Bruins.

The Bruins led the championship game through the first two innings 1-0 before Blue Wave put five runs on the board in the 3rd, where the score remained 5-1 through the end of the game. The Bruins produced only 1 run off 6 hits on the day, but did not commit an error. Blue Wave pushed five runs across off 9 hits, while committing one error.
